Stefan Rating, PhD, is a competition and digital regulatory and legal affairs expert, practicing since 1988. His competition practice includes the EU and Spanish clearance of major transactions as lead outside counsel, complaints to the European Commission and the Spanish competition authorities, general competition law advice, and work in State aid and cartel cases.
 
For thirteen years Stefan worked at the European Commission, including as Special Assistant to the Director-General of Competition, as spokesman to the late Competition Commissioner Mr Karel Van Miert and as Member of the Legal Service’s competition team, advising DG COMP and pleading in many leading cases.
 
To this day, Stefan frequently represents clients before the General Court, the Court of Justice of the EU and Spanish national courts.
